Education Options For You

When you are trying to take care of your family, it is hard to imagine being able to go to school. It is a desire of a lot of single parents to get more education in order to get a better paying job. This dream is attainable, if you really want it. I am a firm believer that you can do anything you want in life, you just have to want it bad enough.

I wish I could tell you which education option is best for you. Whether it’s an online school or physical campus, you have to decide. I have learned that you never make decisions based on information given by someone who will not be around to share in the consequences – good or bad. Each person has to decide what is best for their own situation.

I did go to school online but never finished. I went to University of Phoenix and I did have a great experience while in attendance. Unfortunately, now I have no degree and a lot of student loan debt. It would be my recommendation for anyone to try a physical campus. Many colleges and universities offer online classes in many programs.

My daughter is attending school at a local community college. She is going for Pharmacy Technician. The majority of her classes are online but does attend two classes at night, twice a week. Her job is able to work around her school schedule. She also will not have the large debt when she is done like I do.

She began by going online and searching different careers which require little education. She then researched the requirements for those different programs. Looking at the pre-requisites, certifications, and average incomes for each – she made her decision.

I can’t say it enough – the difference between success and failure is how determined you are. You also should make sure you make a choice that interests you. If you love nature, then selecting a career that keeps in doors for 8 hours a day is probably not right for you. And you won’t be happy.

Another factor in your decision should be your support system. If you don’t have one, you need to start building one. I didn’t always have one when my daughter was growing up. I can tell you from experience, it is a lot harder without one. It doesn’t have to be family all the time either. I have enlisted people from church, neighbors, friends and utilized services at the local YMCA. You do what you have to do in order get things done.

Once you are enrolled in school there are other financial assistance and bonuses available to you. You can talk to your financial advisor who will tell about many grant opportunities. Outside of school, there are a lot of discounts offered to students. Your advisor should also know about local business discounts.
